Last Cross Country Meet

Today Austin had his last cross country meet of the 2008 season. We were up bright and early to catch the bus at 7:45am. Peyton and I drove up to Su Valley Middle School to cheer on the team. Its about a 2 hour drive from Anchorage with no traffic. Well no one notified the visiting teams that we would have to park over 1.5 miles away from the school and walk through mud to get to the cross country trail. You have to realize that this school is in the middle of no where. You can simply drive past it if you arent careful. Anyways Peyton and I arrived just as the gun went off for the boys race. The race was a 3K. Austin did GREAT and came in 2nd. He for sure thought he would do terrible once he was given his bib #. His # was 666. He was not happy at all about that. His teammate Alex Brown who is in the 8th grade took 1st. Alex and Austin have had this great rival all season and it is always good to see them compete with each other. As you can see from the picture of them they are still the best of friends after the race. Well tomorrow is our day of rest and then Monday after school basketball season starts. YIKES!!!!!!!

A day at Bouncing Bears

Today we went to Wasilla for a birthday party. It was held at Bouncing Bears. It has these huge inflatables and the kids- and the adults had a great time. Austin and Paul did several of the mazes and raced. Paul said it was alot easier to watch then actually climb through them. LOL

ACS Invitational Cross Country Meet

ACS had its annual Invitational Cross Country Meet on Friday. I left work early and Paul pulled Peyton out of class a few minutes early so we could cheer on Austin. I must say I am not sure where that kid gets his endurance or speed. There were 49 competitors from several schools for the Jr High boys race. It was a two mile wet and slippery race as it had rained earlier in the day. When the crowd starting cheering cause the first runners were coming around the bend Paul and I looked up and wouldnt you know it, Austin was in 3rd place. YAHOO! He placed 3rd overall and 1st for ACS. WAY TO GO AUSTIN. I have attached a couple of pictures. One of Austin and Mrs. Lucy who is his coach and one of his buddies.
